Anyone know where I can pick up a switch for a Magcharger? My dad's light is out of commission and we've narrowed it downt to the switch. Maglite says that they don't make it as a replacement part but I've seen it somewhere online, just can't remember.

If I can't find the part I'll send it in for repair. I just figured it would be quicker to just replace the part.

I think the switch on a Mag Charger is a factory/depot item and it has to be sent in for repair. The switch assemblies on the primary battery lights can be replaced as a consumable item if the owner doesn't want to send it in for warranty replacement.

Thanks, but $10.95 shipping for a $10.50 item is a little steep!

I tried Flashlightking.com, but they don't have the magcharger switch.

I did email mag to see about the part and they said the best thing would be to send it in for warranty repair. Looks like that will be the course of action.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Update:
Just got off the phone with the warranty center. Light is going out for repair tomorrow!

Sorry about that, you asked, I delivered!:)

Shipping back to Mag will be about the same, though. Of course they will fix it for free.

Bill, many thank you's for the link. I just can't see spending more for shipping than the item costs. As I said I talked to the warranty center, which sounded like a mom and pop business. They want me to send everything in: light, battery pack and chargers. I was given the impression that it will checked out completely and anything faulty replaced. I guess a basic rebuild. So even if it costs $10 to ship it, Dad's getting a "new" light back.

Again, thanks.

If you're calling one of the warranty repair stations, they probably are a mom&pop business at best. Some of them don't even have a business address, just a maildrop address. You do have the option of sending it back to Mag in Ontario as well, and you might call them to see if you need to send the whole thing back or just the light itself.

You'll run into the same problems dealing with Streamlight, as the first people you speak to is the Sales department and they're more interested in shunning you off, so they'll tell you anything; you don't really start getting answers until you manage to get past the sales department and talk to someone in repairs.

swampy,

No problems, just pullin' the gators tail!:)

I've dealt with Mags4less, but I always buy quantities, so the shipping isn't so stupid.
