We are in the process of buying a new house and as part of the process we hired a home inspection service to give it the once over. Last Thursday we met with the inspector and proceed to follow him through the garage, basement, nooks, crannies, etc. The inspector had his Magcharger and I my ARC AAA (I had my light just to keep from tripping as his light was the main work light. I have to admit that I was not impressed with the MagCharger because of the level of light and the big black hole in the center of the beam. When we getting ready to inspect the attic I got my TL out of the truck. Let me tell you, the TL was so much brighter than the MC that I had to turn my beam away from where we were looking so that the inspector could point out something with his beam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. When we got downstairs he commented on how bright the light was. He did look at me funny when I told him about the pepper spray but then I explained to him why I had purchased it (I'm a live-in watchman/caretaker for a nature preserve). Now, I don't know what state state his MC was in but my TL blew it away hands down. I had the US in the car too but didn't want to rub it in.

That could have been caused by a lot of things. He could have had the old bulb, a bad battery, an about to die bulb. Whe nI compared my Magcharger to a Tigerlight, it didn't have the light output of the TL, but it wasn't blown away, and it did have a longer throw because of the tight spot. It only has a hole in the mniddle when defocused.

Hello Unicorn,

I seem to remember the TigerLight blowing away the Mag Charger... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, blowing away may not accurately describe it. The TigerLight puts out a lot more light at close distances. You have the hot spot and a bunch of spill to go with it. The Mag Charger will focus tighter and out throw the TigerLight, but when you open the beam up to match the size of the TigerLight beam, the TigerLight seems brighter.

If you would spend less time in the sand box we could go for a walk in the park and check it out.

Tom,
Maybe it's a preference thing. I kind of like a tight spot, with a decent amount of side spill. The first gen lamp that you really like was way to open for me, the second generation was better, but still not as tight as I normally like. Of course, nothing in a decent price range (like under $150ish), can really match the output for it's size of the FBOP Tigerlight.
