I have been looking around at what is availiable in the way of cheap (ish - nothing is cheap in the uk) and have been looking at the lenser police tech torch, i already have a v2 , but have i seen somewhere that in focused mode it is only as tight as the v2 and the beam only goes wider ,not tighter?
Anyway, while looking around our nearest fashion clearance shop (don't know if i can say the name) i found a load of maglites on offer.
The 3w 2aa led maglite is up for £17 as opposed to the usual £30-£40 here in the uk.
Question is, is the maglite as good as the lenser??
TIA Geoff

Well, the Maglite lacks heatsinking, it drops to nothing(no moon mode) after the batteries drop to a certain voltage.

I'm not sure how the Lenser compares to the Maglite. I'd look for other lights in that price range first because the last bunch of Ledlensers don't have such a good track record. There were a few good ones and the current ones seem to be better but the older ones had a problems.

What is you price range? What are you looking for?

I got my 3w 3aa mini mag last week which cost me 32 Aussie dollar, right now running on my eneloops lasts fairly long and looks good.
The thing is for people who likes flashlights it kind of a must to have a maglite, for people who loves flashlights it's a must to have a modded mag. If the price is good right now I think you should gtt one, the 2aa one, the 3aaa mini mag just doesn't mini it's freaking long.

I have the Police Tech Focus and there are much better lights out there for the price. It has good optics and an intense beam for a luxeon but does not have good runtime as it runs off 3xAAA. It is direct driven as well and my one at least is not remotely waterproof.

While £17 may be a good offer for the Maglite the Fenix E20 is a much better light also having the ability to focus the beam, you should check it out.
