Ok, I have a 4 cell maglite with a cheapish LED maglite drop in and it be honest it isn't all that bright, especially given its mass when in comparison to Fenix light or something.

I want to modify my maglite so that it is brighter. I would like it possible to keep it so that it retain the focusing function and if possible keeping it using 4D cells and preferably under $70 or £45

part from that anything is game, I was thinking a decent glass (?) lens, Some high quality LED drop in (terralux?)...

thank you.

Go for a Malkoff Mag dropin
Get a coated glass lens from KD

Oh, wait I don't mind if I can't use the focus ring, if I can get a more even spread of light, without effecting the throw, (IE in comprason to the LED drop on the tightest setting.)

Is KD = Kaidomain, an online supplier of cheap torches and other bits :D
Can be a bit hit or miss but Ive not had any problems with them apart from
slow shipping.

I am in the UK as well :)

The shipping for a Malkoff is a tad on the steep side :(
but it is regarded as the best Mag dropin you can buy

If your handy with a soldering iron, maybe you should try to
mod your Mag yourself, its not difficult, search around the forum
there are plenty of guides posted by members.
