Maglite Mini Mods Questions

Hello people. Yesterday, I found my old maglite mini led version, I immediately searched some modifications but all of them required some kind of machining and they use older LEDs. I don't have that kind of equipment. I'm looking for a build that I can do in home using basic equipment. I also have no idea how to calculate the internal resistance or do any calculations. Basically, can someone tell me what to buy?(drivers, resistors, copper hs, ext.) I have a SST-40 on a 16mm copper dtp mcpcb but I'm open to other builds and suggestions(maybe xhp50.2?). I guess I can use that. I really want to bring this maglite back to life and use it daily. Thanks.

One slightly dodgy mod is to replace the hot wire bulb with a red or yellow 3mm LED, direct drive. The LED needs to be plugged in the right way around to work.
