Maglite modding

Hi, I have a 2D Maglite, I have a TerraLUX TLE-6EXB MiniStar5 in it. I was thinking about converting it to an aspheric lens, does anyone know if this works well? Do I remove the cone reflector? I found the KD lens and then I was going to machine a bezel for it, how far does the lens stick out from the end of the maglite?
