Re: Maglite Rechargable

These are much better go to batteries and then to robot 1/2 D cells. You will need five of them and will get over two hours of runtime on the new stock bulb. web page

Re: Maglite Rechargable

If you want to buy a battery stick the SL-20X stick is better at 2500 mAh than the MC stick at 2200 mAh.

TURT,

DON'T BUY THE MAGSTICK BATTERIES!

The Magstick is too much money because you are paying for the name (for whatever that's worth). But most importantly they aren't nearly as good as the individual 1/2D cells that you can buy at www.powerstream.com these batteries are called "Battle Robot Batteries", they are custom engineered cells for ultra-high current and light weight. Plus they are 2500 mAh cells which beats the Mags. They cost about 2.50 a cell x 5= $12.50. They can discharge EXTREMELY FAST just in case you decide to get the 500+lumen W/A bulb and a UCL for that puppy. That is a nice setup! Let me tell you it beats my Tigerlight or Ultra Stinger.

Sorry I'm new to the world of rechargable flashlights... I've mainly stuck with LED's... What is a W/A bulb?

Re: Maglite Rechargable

W/A=Welch Allen, a bulb manufacturer that produces a very high-output Bi-Pin bulb that fits the Mag.

I run a W/A in my Mag, and it is VERY bright, but runs VERY hot, and melted my Mag's bulb base...Ooops... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

To keep on topic, I have those Powerstream cells, and they work great. The only drawback is that they are loose cells and can rattle a little inside the light, but it isn't that big of a deal.

Re: Maglite Rechargable

Can I safely assume you mean that the plastic that holds the aluminum reflector is what melted? Not the reflector itself?
You should be able to find some shrink wrap for the batteries at a hardware or remote control hobby (cars/planes/boats) shop to help with the rattle.

Re: Maglite Rechargable

Where are you guys buying these batteries in small quantities? The Powerstream site seems to be selling in quantities of 100-10,000 with a minimum order of $200.00. Add to that all their shipping is FOB overseas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Re: Maglite Rechargable

Those batteries are available in retail quantities direct from PowerStream because of the great hobbyist potential.

Dano, correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you melted the pedestal that holds the bipin bulb and not the reflector or the plastic support around the reflector?

Wilkey

Re: Maglite Rechargable

Hi! i am new to these pages & also very interested in modding my mag-charger.I am thinking about adding some Powerstream 2500 mah Ni-Cad's,or maybe some higher capacity Ni-metals.The batteries are easy but the lamp is a bit harder to get(welch/allyn).Does Carley make a high power lamp to fit the mag-charger that is compareable to the WA's?
