mag's standard reflector: Cree or SSC?

As title which LED works better with Mag D standard plastic reflectors?

SSC will give more throw per unit of light due to emission pattern.

Definitely the SSC, the Cree's beam pattern is too narrow to be used very effectively with a standard mag reflector, very ringy. If you go to a MOP reflector it works out pretty well.

Here are beamshots from a standard M@G reflector with an XR-E and a Seoul P4. The pic's have been desaturated so that the beam pattern is more obvious.

Seoul USVOI and XR-E P4, but different drivers so not an indication of relative brightness.

The cree throws like crazy in a standard Mag reflector. Kind of a laserbeam.

Give the reflector a quick swirling pass of Clear Krylon spraypaint and say goodbye to the rings of Cree or the standard Mag Bulb.
Keep your distance 1-2 feet and give it 2 seconds spray at most.

The base the emitter is mounted to is just below the bottom edge of the reflective potion of the reflector.
