MAHA C777-Plus II & Powerex 11,000mAH \"D\"s

MAHA C777-Plus II & Powerex 11,000mAH "D"s = /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/whoopin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smoker5.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sick.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

Anyone have a solution so it charges continuously for 13 hours. For me it shuts off after ~3 hours. It would take 5 charges to fully charge the Powerex Ds, that's unacceptable. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks to Wilkey, I STFA and found a few threads on other CFPers having the same problem. Is there any solution?

If not, which charger should I buy? The charger needs to be able to charge at least 8 Ds at a time, in one sitting. Or at worst 2 sittings. TIA!

Hello Dan,

Those are really high capacity cells.

Most chargers will only do 4 D cells at a time.

I would suggest 2 of the Vanson Speedy Box chargers (BC-1HU). They have a automatic shut off at 11.5 hours and a charge rate of 700 mA/h. This means that it would take 2 cycles to fully recharge dead 11000 mAh cells.

I use the Integy Indi 16x4 linear charger. It is intended more for RC charging, but is capable of fast charging from 500ma to about 5amp, and looks like it will do up to 9999ma batts for nicad or nimh before shutting down, so you would probably need to do two cycles. The cool thing about this charger is it will charge from 1 to 15 cells at a time provided you have an appropriate battery holder. I have been using mine for a year to charge rc car packs, and just about anything else that I could find. Since current is adjustable you should not have any trouble except with the smallest of batteries. You can take a look here.

I should have included that the Vanson is a 4 channel charger. Each channel is independent. Each cell is analyzed individually.

The Integy charger would work great if the cells are assembled into a battery pack.

Thanks Unnerv and SilverFox!

Silver, you sold me on the Vanson, ordering three of them right now from AmondoTech. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Apparently only the C Crane (or Saitek) charger will do it in one charge, but only 4 at a time though. It's my favorite charger, but I'm in the minority around here.

Silver Fox: Thanks for your recommendation. The Vanson Speedy Boxes are great, just what I was looking for! Very easy to use and charges well. I purchased two of them and AmondoTech got them to me in 2 days.

Thanks again Tom!

Hello Dan,

I have been very happy with mine also.

Now, what are you going to put those monster cells into...

Tom: I'm working on Ginseng's Mini-Aurora: Mag 5D Donor Body, with Powerex 11,000mAH Ds.

It will yield 800+ lumens and a 1.5+ hour run time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm just waiting on the custom reflector and potted bulb(s). Gonna do both the WA01160 and Bulb X...TBA. Should be here early next week.

The WA01160 should run 3.5+ hours.

I'll post something in the Homemade Flashlights Forum as soon as I get everything.
