I have used these Maha Powerex AA 2700 mAh cells for about 1.5 years with great success...

Now I noticed that the PT headlight I was using was getting weak, checked the cells. 3/4 were at 1.25V and the 4th one was at 0.06V. Completely discharged. I charge these 4 cells at the same time of course.

Does this mean this cell is dead?
It's 1.5 years old but not sure how many cycles on it. Maybe as many as 50-75.

I am attempting to discharge it and charge it.

In practice and not theory, how long do these cells last?

Your cell doesnt recover by itself to 1.2v so it is dead.
I have one Sanyo 2700 discharged to 0.05v and recover to 1.2v with rather huge charging current at first, then use a normal charging current afterwards. But on the others no matter how i charged the battery, it just stays 0.05v. both considered dead IMO.

it think even when the cell recoveres, still the best ways is to replace it since the internal resistance is too high to be able to supply usable current not to mention the lost of capacity just in a few days.

I had a cell go bad like this new out of the pack a few years ago! The cell somehow shorted inside because when I tried to charge it in a dumb charger it would not charge and heated up quite rapidly.

So I wouldn't try to charge it at anything more than a very slow charge to test it first.

Things get stranger by the minute -- I discharged, then recharged the two cells. The charger is Vanson speedy box. Checking the voltage the two cells were at 1.47V.

Put them in Fenix L2D and no lite. Hm. Tried the previous set of cells that was in it - no lite either. Tried another one - it's dead as a door knob. Somehow the lite just died right now, it worked a few seconds ago.
