LEDs, are indestructible.

The same cannot be said for all the other components however!

I've got a Version 2.0 classic Rexlight, that won't stay on.

Sometimes it will start - and flicker until it stays off.

The switch is good (continuity 0.7 Ohms, give or take) - the aluminium body does make contact.

All cells are brand-new / recharged (and checked with a meter).

The modes can even be switched before it goes kaput...

This seems to be a problem with either the internal PCB connection or some part of the driver electronics is fried. (Possibly a Bad Capacitor?)

What to do?
