Hi Vinh, I just noticed this light was 1000L with SFT-40. Is that correct or is that the specs with a W2? ]Curious since I see many of the 14500 powered lights pushing 1000L with W2. I would think that the SFT-40 would be higher paired with VN2. Just wondering pro / cons SFT-40 vs W2.

I recently received my EO5vn. I tossed out my old 14500 cells a couple of weeks ago because they were old and cycled. Vinh is working on getting me some purple 10A Vapcells. I couldn't wait to use my new light so I stopped at a vap shop and picked up a 4A 14500 (best they had). The beam shape is really nice and I'm seeing 1275L at turn on, which is well higher than what Vinh measured this model at. I'm hoping the new cell bumps it up even higher. This is only my 2nd SFT-40 light and it's definitely 6500k, fine for the purposes I'm using it. My MK38 with SFT-40 is much warmer, perhaps 5500K territory, more like a W2. It any case, it's a nice little ti light and will by replacing my PreonVN W2 that I've been carrying for years. It really came down to just needing a larger fuel tank since I found myself exhausting the 10440 in the PreonVN too often. I'm already finding the tail standing feature useful as well.

Vinh my 10A Vapcells arrived today. I just measured 2040L conservatively in the lightbox. I had to patch a spot in that lightbox so I'm guessing the actual number would re-calibrate about 5% higher based on other lights. The light tube measured 2275L and when I added the correct sized aperture to the opening a saw north of 2300L! It's doesn't seem possible but when I referenced my FW3vn quad W2 I recorded 3520L & 3680 respectively. I also measured both KR1vn's and saw 4640L and 4820L out of the other with 3500mAh cells. Perhaps the 6500k is giving the numbers a boost.

I haven't checked yet but I'm guessing that throw is at or above 25Kcd. I've never seen or owned a 14500 light with this kind of performance but I couldn't be happier. I'm looking forward to taking it for a walk tonight.
 
Hmmm I remember only measuring 1000L. May be my tested cell was not good? But still 2000L is WAY too high for a single 14500 light. I will build another and test with a brand new cell to be sure.
 
That's great. I'm excited to see what you get. Even if I subtract 15% for the 6500K (I'm guessing my light meter is reading the 6500k very high) I'm still seeing almost 1800L. All I know is that the light looks screaming bright, it does a simple ceiling bounce test over 250% brighter than my PreonVN W2, and the head gets quite hot at 10-12 seconds and starts to burn my fingers pads after about 18 seconds. These cells are awesome! The best I had prior to that was 4A max cells.
 
I just got back from a walk with the E05vn SFT-40 VN2 with 10A Vapcell and it was spectacular. Tomorrow I'll do some beamshots with lights that you guys will know. After seeing the light in complete darkness, I have less doubt about the output. It makes me want other SFT-40 lights with VN2 now.

Just a thought Vinh, I'm wondering if you posted the specs for a W2 equipped E05vn. The lumen output would be about right for the combo. I see that you measured 1600L from a MC13vn SFT40, likely with a 3A continuous discharge capable 18350 cell and with what I suspect was the stock Manker driver. Exchange for a 10A cell and add VN2 and it seems quite possible that the SFT40 could do far better than the 1600L measured in the MC13vn. Just my rambling thoughts. I'm eager for you to build another and I'm going to go shop Skylumen for other SFT40 possibilities.

haha, thanks Gary, she's been a very enjoyable pet. I want more bearded dragons but Lilly wouldn't get quite the same spoiling that she gets now. She's loved and handled by everyone all the time, has her run of the house, is potty trained, so only does her business outside, and she regularly falls to sleep, laying on our chest, on movie night. It's ridiculous... haha

Vinh, she's just over 5 years, about 750 grams, and close to 22" long. She likes carrots, apples, spring mix lettuce, sugarsnap peas, yellow squash, red & yellow peppers, blueberries, raisins. She gets occasional mealworms, crickets and her favorite, hornworms.

All at 1-2 sec. All cells 4.15v or higher.

The E05vnSFT40 measures between 2040L and 2275 depending on the specific H10 cell that used (I measured three of them). Even if you subtract 5-10% for 6500 color temp, nothing else I can think of comes close in the world of 14500 flashlights.

I run all of my VN2 EDC lights in VN2 group13, which is the 100-70-50-15-5-1 mode group. It's gives me instant max output for carry but I can half press through to lower outputs in less than a second. "Setting "1" or the 6th step provides what appears to be abut 15-20L. I ran the light is this mode 8 hours overnight and the H10 cell still had 3.96v resting. Basically you could use it all night switching between the 5th and 6th steps and still have battery left. These are also the two outputs I typically use on my night walks. So it can work as a very bright tactical light and "survival" type light, with the wide output range.

Having a ton of fun with these 14500 SFT40 lights. I wish I had discovered them sooner.
