The Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon has been updated to the Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II.

I found out that the following has changed:

Maxpedition's most compact backpack, the Pygmy Falcon-II (Model #0517), is now available in black, green, khaki and digital foliage camo, which is compatible with the Army's ACU pattern. Two rows of PALS webbing have been added to the front and sides of the pack for improved modular capacity.

Are there any other improvements to the Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II?

They removed the exterior bottle pouches...a mistake, in my opinion.

This change alone swayed me away from the pack.

Two side net pouches with cinch cord used to carry water bottles are still on the Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II.

I wish it was bigger. The falcon 2 has too many straps and no side net pouches.

What's the best pouch to attached to the side of the Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II?

Hmm...I may have been misinformed.
If so, that is a good thing...except that it will ighten my wallet.

I was under the impression that the original Pygmy Falcon had the bottle pouches, but the re-designed Pygmy Falson II did not.

Ah, here it is:

"Pictures and description are for the original Pygmy Falcon due to this item being so new that we haven't gotten the pictures for it. The new pack is almost exactly the same in appearance and size. Maxpedition added one row of PALS webbing in front (for a total of 2) and also two rows of PALS webbing on both sides (where there was none before) above the water bottle pocket. Otherwise, everything else is the same as the original Pygmy Falcon."

I understand the confusion since Maxpedition did not update their website.

I asked this question in an email:

Are there any plans for a larger Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II? The Maxpedition Falcon II but it has too many compression straps and no water bottle side holders.

and received this answer from Maxpedition:

That is not in our immediate plans.
