I am now in the process of finding a replacement for my overly huge and heavy backpack. I've narrowed the choices down to several items:
1) Maxpedition Devildog Versipack
2) Spec.-Ops S.O.B. Buttpack
3) Maxpedition Typhoon Gearslinger
4) Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II

I've already read reviews regarding the Devildog, but the last response was dated a little over two years ago. Any recent updates?

How about reviews on the Spec.-Ops brand Buttpack?

Reviews on the Typhoon Gearslinger and the Pygmy Falcon?

My next EDC pack will have to last me for several years so it has to be rugged and affordable. Any thoughts?

Just ordered a PF II yesterday. Hopefully will see it by the end of the week. In all the reviews I read, the side mesh/water bottle pouches were a feature that was noted as very useful. I intend to carry a nalgene bottle of water on one side and a thermos of carry on the other. :D

I own a Fatboy and MPB - Maxpedition construction can't be beat. The PF II was noted as small, but perfect for EDC. I plan to review this one after a few weeks of carry.

I'm currently carrying a County Comm BOB which superceded the Fatboy, but I think I like the backpack form factor better than the "briefcase" FF. I don't get the gearslinger FF even though I wear backpacks on one shoulder 99% of the time. Part of the attraction of the PF II is that I think it will be perfect for a hunting daypack. As it is, I carry too much crap around in the woods and I think the PF II will force me to pare down my gear while still allowing me to carry what I (think I) need.

Now, off to look at the links posted by parnass...
