I have a newer model Mckinley with 7Leds in HA. I have always carried it in a jeans coin pocket or in a holster when in a pants pocket with keys.

The LEDs seem exposed and vulnerable in the McKinly and I wondered if they were fragile or susceptible to damage in the pocket - with keys, pocket knife, etc.

Anyone here carry the McKinley or a similar 5mm 7 led light loose in the pocket?

I have a Matterhorns 3LED, and carry it in the pocket - but it has only 3LEDs, and they do not seem as exposed and vulnerable to damage.

I carry my McKinley fairly often, but I don't put anything in the pocket that's going to damage it. What else are you going to be putting in a coin pocket if your lights already there?

Nothing else goes in a coin pocket, but I don't have a coin pocket when I go to work - then it is business casual/Dockers.
I carry car keys and perhaps a Gerber light in my right pocket. More keys go in my left front pocket.

The older one had the LEDs recessed in individual holes.

I have an older model in brass and it is heavy. I also have a new model in HA and the LEDs are exposed.
Are they likely to get sratched up if not in a holster? Anyone know?
This has not been a problem for my Matterhorn with 3LEDs.

I carry a CR123 McKinley and have yet to have a problem - the light frequently gets dropped in a pocket with way too many keys and generally abused and still performs well.
