Help Support Candle Power:

I'd like to get the 30mm type head (in black) for my McLux, so add me to the list please.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Where is the preorder list? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Leo,

I have e-mailed you to be on "The List" for this head, but I will post here too, just to make sure I am in line...

Ok Leo!! You wanted to see what the response from the CPF was and I only count for 1, but as several others have stated, Sign me up dude!! And if you haven't figured it out yet, it would appear we will pretty much buy anything you come up with....................well flashlight wise anyways!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So until you decide to make more of these I'll just:

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

Make it HA (or at least have it as an option) please. This is exactly what I wanted to round out my UBH kit. As long as it holds and retains an unmodified 30mm optic and allows a minimag drop in module (or direct drive), I predict these will sell well. I'm especially interested in their use with 5w direct driven from a UBH (3x123). If this will do what I think it will and if surefire decides to ever release the e2 clicky, I'll be selling most of my lights because the UBH and its accessories (like the above), can do it all.

Mark

I'm in too!! I will not miss "the offering" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

Can we get them in HA? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi fellas,

Thanks again for the response! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Some quick facts about the Supercharger head you should know:

- its still an eval design, and in evolution

- its just a head, not the whole complete flashlight

- it only works with Elektrolumens 30mm optic - nothing else

- it can't hold a protective lens to protect against optic scratchin (yet)

- you need to silicone gasket the thing yourself to waterproof it

- I only had my protos done in HA3-black by default for now. *if* we do a mfg run on these fellas, I'm afraid it'll have to stay in HA3-black if the qtys are small (ie. 50 or less). Alternatively, I think I can supply them in raw Al6061-T6. Any other finish may cause me to go belly-up if I can't sell them *sigh* Sorry, guys... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif - economics dictate this...

- absolutely no TKs are planned, for several reasons (ie. LED variations, LED availability, optic availability, various drive options). If these parts are to be made available, I guess its only for serious DIYers out there.) So, you'll have to buy a body, the lens, the LED and the driver/resistor on your own. WayneY and WayneJ have these in ample supply /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So after all that - anyone still interested?

Yeah, I'm still interested... I already have my DIY 3x123 McLux (in black).

I would like to see the head built with sufficient space to add in a mineral glass lens in front of the optic.

It would also be nice if this head already came with the 30mm optic, since you could probably get a better deal on the 30mm in bulk (that way Elektrolumens would not have to deal with individual orders from everyone buying this head).

Since the McLux comes in many configurations, it should be left in the DIY "mode" so we can mount the emitter/converter combo that best suits our application.

In summary, I'd like to get ONLY the machined head, 30mm optic, and mineral glass lens in a kit..

An estimated cost would be nice to know in advance if possible. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks!

I am still interested in it, too. I knew that it is only the head we were talking about but would love to see the possiblity to add some sort of mineral glass for protection. Black HA I can live with /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif and the 30mm optics seem to work very nicely.

So somewhere inside of that head there is space for a BB or MM?

Klaus.

Slick,

Adding space for the mineral glass or UCL is no problem. However, light transmittance may be in the case of the mineral glass - and size availability where the UCL (or borofloat?)is concerned. That's why the protos were built without this option first. I'm also testing the mounting/securing method for the 30mm with these heads (so far so good) and to see if they felt "right". I suppose space could be added in the next iteration (if any) for the glass (anyone know how thick?). For those not wanting to use glass, an o-ring could be substituted to prevent rattling.

Getting a hold of a large qty of the 30mm lenses is something I may have to explore with WayneJ, but we have no deal in the works at this point in time. So, a kit is out of the question too for now.

Price is a function of qty and it'd be silly if you had to pay the same price as a SF Turbohead assy, IMHO. If I can't garner enough support here, the poor few interested parties here are gonna hafta cough up more. The protos pictured were done at a somewhat high expense. I'm still monitoring interest - if we could rack up 50+ individual posts with a suggestion of commitment, I'll know what to do /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In any case, I'm still waiting for word from Don with regards to how he finds his sample - he should be getting it pretty soon.

Oh yes, for sure. The pcb cavity is exactly the same as the regular McLux heads, so there's room in there for a BB/MM/Wizard or a 2W resistor. You could also chain 1W resistors in the lens/LED cavity (in the space beneath the lens) if the pcb cavity isn't enough for your application.

I like the Black HA, would like space for a choice of protective lens, and possibly other optics/reflectors. Cost estimate would be good. A little off topic- I'm still waiting for a 2x123 body to be available. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i would probably still be interested depending on price. i'd also like to see the 2x123 body.
