Hi guys I just wanted to say that I now have 2 of these Flashlights one U-Bin and one T-Bin.
My opinion has not changed. My life has become a bit more difficult. Which to carry?
This flashlight has only 2 levels each with a constant light output level. This is the exact number of levels I need. 2.
I have a bunch of lights with many levels. I almost always reach for the simple 2 level lights.
So far the McLuxIIIPD is still the king of my pocket. I think I prefer the U-Bin over the T-Bin. It is a bit brighter. I think. I will measure both lights after a month or so of use for light output. The beam is PERFECT. Interesting how this reflector is the same reflector that that many people have put into their Lion Cub lights.
If you need a simple extremely high quality, built to order, totally uniquely designed flashlight then get off the fence and send an e-mail to Don and get yourself one of these lights. I was amazed that my light shipped the day after I ordered it. I received it somthing like 72 hours after ordering it. Wow.
I am not sure what is next in lights. For quite a while I was of the opinion that we had pushed the design envelope of flashlights built around the LUX III as far as they would go. Now I am not so sure. We are seeing more U-Bins and the wiz2x2 driver. The K2 is close. My PD doesn't get hot when left on, Not like some lights I have that get way too hot to touch if they have been on but not in your hand. When I look at the McLuxIIIPD FAQ, I am amazed by the design and by the fact that Don puts it out there. As a group we are a pretty judgemental lot. Putting your design out there to be seen by all really takes balls.
"The proof is in the pudding" has never been more true when used to describe a flashlight. The McLuxIIIPD is the pudding by which flashlights will be judged for some time to come.
Pictures anybody? I am not sure I can put anything up that we haven't seen before so I haven't photographed the PD's yet.
