I was getting ready to order some reflectors for some mods I am doing and was going to order the McR 27's because the Shoppe was out of PR's, but the Shoppe now has some PR's in stock.

I understand that the McR is supposed to be essentially the same as the PR as far as appearances go, with a better coating on it.

Are the McR27 and PR physically identical?

I've also been very successful in turning down the PR's and taking material off of the front end, without chipping and flaking the reflective surface. Can I expect the same from the McR27?

Chop,
The McR-27's and first batch of McR38's are a 2000 series Al base. They machine OK but do gum a bit, in my experience. I found out that I could request 6061 as a base and the McR20's are of this base. It has been my experience that the best way to get a clean break, when possible is to use a sharp pointed boring bar and cut out a break in the reflective surface. It is also important to keep chips from forming in the reflective area as they can scratch the surface.
