Measuring Current Draw of WOF?

I genuinely love EL's WOF. However, it draws something like 7 amps, which is sort of on the edge of what currently cell technology is capable of delivering. The question has arisen as to exactly how many amps the WOF really draws.

How do I measure this? I saw the thread that said to measure the current across the LED module. Sadly, the WOF is hard wired, and I cannot gain access to the guts. Can I simply take a DMM and measure across the cell and the battery cage? If not, how?

Thanks in advance.

Measuring at the LED is only necessary when you're concerned with how much current the LED is getting in a light that uses a buck, boost, or buck-boost circuit. If you only want to find out how hard the batteries are being pushed (in any light), then measuring across the tailcap is fine.
