I just picked up a MH-C9000 and some Powerex 2700s and Imedion 2100s.
How many times should I be putting these through the "Break-In" mode cycle before I use them?
The first time around on some 2700s I got a max. capacity of ~2635-2650 on each cell. Am I going to get more out of them?

I also have some Energizer 2500s that were used on the "WalMart Special" quick charger. What should I do special to these, if anything, to maximize their capacity on the MH-C9000?

Thanks

Theres a thread that may help you (why I cant link in these forums is beyond me)

Essentially it boils down to if your using these batteries for critical applications. If so condition your non low discharge batteries- to distribute the chemicals in them. For your imedions dont worry about it, they wont gain much in capacity by conditioning them. '

If there going to be used in appliances (non critical) just go ahead charge them and off you go. I think then condition them every 30 cycles.

But everyone seems have a different opinion....

Hello GR,

In general...

With new NiMh cells you would first discharge them at 1 amp, then run the Break-In cycle on them, then use them. To keep them in top condition, run another Break-In cycle every 20 - 25 charge/discharge cycles.

The low self discharge cells can also benefit from the Break-In cycle, but if the cells are newly manufactured, the benefit is not much. In this case, you can just use them and then do a Break-In cycle every 20 - 25 charge/discharge cycles.

I usually just get in the habit of doing a Break-In cycle on all new cells.
