The MicroNex (pronunced Micron-Nex) 01 and 05 are both mods of a Nexstar 2AA light.

The MicroNex-01 is a 1 watt Mod powered by a single 123 cell using a Badboy 400(damn 500 didn't get shipped and only had a 400 and 750 at home), and a Q2KW HD Luxeon.

The MicroNex-05 is a 5 watt mod powered by 2x 123 cells using a Badboy 750ma and a U3VW HD Luxeon. Has a Legend LX Grip.

Both have nx-05 optics at the moment, but i will play around with Nx-01's later on.

The bodies of the MicroNex are turned down, and brush finished.

a 2nd version of the MicroNex-05 will be shown when i the bb750 gets delivered and i find myself a 5W HD Luxeon. Any sellers?
Beam shots to come later on, but everyone should have a idea of how it'll look

The bodies were made by Matt, anyone interested in custom works could contact him at [email protected]
I would like to thank him for the great work that made these light mods possible.

ufokillerz, is using a badboy better than using madmax adj? and why? I am still trying to understand differences, pluses and minuses. I know madmax is voltage regulated and badboy is current regulated.

I was thinking of MicroNex-01 in last post. Bill

the truth is that i have no idea which would be better, and i didn't want to tinker so i went with a badboy, the way i made it, it left no space for adjusting a trim pot, so i used a badboy. maybe someone can explain this, but i sure can't.

Re: Introducing the MicroNex-01 and MicroNex-05

Great work!!! To clear up some questions, the BadBoy sandwiches are current regulated which means they hold nearly constant light output until the batteries are sufficiently dead to the point that the regulator can't work anymore, then you get "moon" mode. The MadMax sandwiches are voltage regulated, which means they boost the voltage of the batteries to a set point (Vf of the LS), enough to light the LS, and current draw at that point is whatever the batteries can provide. This means they run very much like a standard light bulb in terms of output; they start out very bright and get dimmer as the batteries die. The MadMax regulators can really suck the life out of batteries, milking them until they're down to about 0.8 - 0.5v and even less. This usually gives them longer runtimes than the BadBoy regulators. Hope that helps!!! Again, very nice lights UFOKillerz!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Introducing the MicroNex-01 and MicroNex-05

How hot does the micronex-05 get if you run it for a while?

Think you might have any more of them for sale soon?

Re: Introducing the MicroNex-01 and MicroNex-05

only have 1 for sale, dont think there will be another anytime soon, the heatsinking on this small light is very good!!!, 1/4" heatsink that has a tight fit with the body and thermal epoxy used to keep it together. It gets slightly warm after 2-3 minutes.
