Mighty Lite from countycomm.com

I have a green one that was a given to me as a gift. It's rather large for a AA light and uses an older generation LED, probably luxIII? I wouldn't bother purchasing it. I only keep mine because it was a gift and so it sits on the shelf as an emergency candle for power failures.

CountyComm AA LED...

I just noticed this little lantern/flashlight combo at CountyCom. I noticed they dropped the price a few dollars and I am thinking of buying a few. I have grown to like small lanterns and the single AA factor of this one is a neat little feature. I also like that it can be an area lantern as well as a thrower....(that is why I did not put this in the lantern section.)

I searched online as well as here and can not find much at all about this product. No reviews at all or even other sites offering it for sale. Has anyone actually got one of these and if so can you give me an idea of how it performs? I know it will not be a huge powerhouse however it is a cute little guy and I buy lights even though I do not need them.:D

I can not figure out why it did not sale before and also why nothing shows up online.....maybe it is not worth the effort to buy it however CC is usually pretty good about having decent products....even their cheaper stuff.

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

It says :
With a 0.5 watt Nichia Brand LED, they provide 26 lumens of light

Not very bright ......

Won't be a thrower ......

Seems to be all plastic.
Run time not very impressive.

I think you will be disappointed with it.

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

i was at ritz camera looking for some eneloops but i saw a lantern that looks exactly like that....

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

I think your $$ would be better spent on a Romisen RC-G2, ITP 3A, Gerber IU or E01... and use diffuser cap or wand to flood the output whenever you need it.

The chap stick cap works great on the ITP A3. I clip it to my t-shirt collar and I could swear I was using my H501.

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

Recall seeing the same type of light at Eddie Bauer. Looks exactly the same, wonder if they came from the same factory.

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

I think it is very useful for what it is. You may like it.

If you expect drive nails sturdy or blindingly bright, don't bother. It is small, light, decent runtime and has several useful reflector modes. They say aluminum, but that is the outside shell (or maybe the plating on the plastic.) However, the plastic is reasonably sturdy. If you're hunting white walls you can find plenty of problems with the beams, but it is actually a useful flood (and the lantern mode is smoother then other LED lanterns I have. It's also dimmer, but....) As someone pointed out, it is large for a single AA light, the slight extra length and the extra diameter is from the nesting reflectors that allow the lantern and flashlight modes.

I bought one a couple years ago (UCO brand from a CampMor closeout sale) and my daughter has taken it to camp every year since. If you are somewhere it is really dark, it has useful amounts of light. (I think) they flip it to lantern to light their tent / tent cabins and to flashlight to walk to the facilities or hike at night. (It's not bright enough with urban light pollution, she traded it for a 2AA 1W Energizer LED after camp to use in civilization. (Offered her a Fenix L1T, but two modes is too complicated. The kid is killing me.))

I think it is well worth $12 if you have a suitable application. E.g. making a camp more comfortable as an extra and/or area light. (I wouldn't replace a "real"' flashlight with it, but it's not heavy and could serve as a little extra bit of comfort.)

Re: CountyComm AA LED...

Ok now that is funny....As a mod here you would think I knew how to find things on a search yet I was unable to do so. Not only could I not find anything there was a link posted above that showed a thread as recent as 3 days past....thanks for the help and I feel really dumb right now.

I must have spelled it wrong or something as I always use the Google search set to CPF only for my searches. Ok regardless thank you for the information and I have still not made up my mind on this one as of yet. The new information is helpful and I am reading over it now. I guess I need to use my super powers to merge my own thread with the other....:nana:

Thanks again for the assist...

I have a 3AAA version of this light branded Discovery Channel. The plastic is orange, the metal is black, and the lettering is white. It's 3 15/16" long and slightly more than 1.25" wide from flat to flat on it's octagonal cross section. It has a fold down hook on the end rather than a loop, so you can hang it without using a carabiner or lanyard.

It was part of a package called "the adventurer" along with a SurvivorMan Mountain DVD and a plastic 7 in 1 "adventure tool" including a whistle, compass, thermometer, momentary incan light, magnifying glass, and signal mirror. Also in the package was 3 AAA Duracells dated 2014, a lanyard, and a small carabiner clip for $5.99 from a local closeout store.

I think it has the same LED in it - some kind of Nichia. It's not quite as bright as my L1P which is supposed to be 40 lumens. Definitely on the cool side, bordering on bluish when compared to the L1P which is slightly yellow. Lantern mode works well, and the plastic is frosted just enough to keep me from getting a really good look at the LED.
