Thurmond, what's your final decision on using 3 cells to drive these LEDs?
You were starting back in June, did the LEDs hold up longterm?

I'd like to try dropping them into the 3xAA Brinkmann Legend.

You can drive them very well in the Brinkman with 3 rested NiMH (my prefered configuration) but 3 AA alkaline will make for an angry blue, short lived part.

5mm 4 DIE all gone.

3W 3 die plenty still. As a matter of fact last night I transplanted a 3W WahWang onto a Diamond Mag screw-on 3W module. It reminds me of a really big ARC-P AAA in tint.
