Hi everyone,

since the TerraLux doesn't quite seem to be what I wanted and rothrandir's MMM has a) a long waiting list and b) is too expensive for what I want it for anyway, I decided that I could do a MMM knock-off (with some modifications of the original design since I can't cut those threads) on my own.

Problem is, I can't find my old MM or any of the copies so I can't answer those questions for myself:
- what is the inner diameter of the MM?
- can I use the MM reflector with reasonable results for a lambertian luxeon? (Any beamshots of such a setup anywhere?)

I'm thinking of simply cutting down the MM from the front end, glueing on the head and adding some kind of switch to the tail. Electronics would be based on a MAX1674, set for ~200 mA in voltage regulated mode.

Bye

Cut it down, glue the head on and use a kroll switch on the tail. Just be sure that the light is "focused" how you like the beam before the epoxy sets up. Also, might want to make sure the epoxy can conduct heat.

Hi,

thanks to Chrisse for the beamshot - looks good enough for me. Mike, almost what I had in mind. AS for epoxy, and I don't know if I'm going to use a Kroll (don't want to order from US and don't know if I can find it in Germany) or knock up something with an industrial pushbutton switch or use a ultraminiature toggle switch on the control input of the converter up in the front.

Bye
Markus

There is at least one source for the Kroll in germany that I know of but they're expensive. The easiest way for you might be to join the german cpf mailing list and ask if someone there has a spare or is ordering anything from the shop.
Pm me for details.
