Mini ROP Lo

Last night I converted my ROP Hi in a 2D Mag to 2 18650 Li-ion instead of 6 AA NiMH. While trying to decide where to stow the Lo bulb I kept in the tail cap, I thought of my very first flashlight mod (long before I discovered the wonders of CPF.)

It is that one you can find on a few of the popular video sights. You take an Eveready 2AA "Industrial" light. Drill out the inside so you can fit 3x123 batteries and put in a KPR112 bulb.

This light with a ROP Lo bulb is very bright! The beam looks a lot better than the KPR112 bulb and it has a good size hot spot with lots of flood. According to LuxLuther's chart this bulb puts out 961 lumens at 9V. I can't not say how many volts are actually reaching the bulb but again, it is bright. Now I just need to be careful not to melt the thing.

Under load those 123 cells are putting out about less than 2.5V each.

Take a look at the 123 shoot out thread. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=67078 . The ROP low pulls about 2 amps.

Also if you look at the Lumensfactory spec page http://www.lumensfactory.com/d26_series_specification.htm their EO-9 a 3 cell 2 amp bulb is speced at 7.2V about the same voltage you would expect from the 123 graphs.

So I would guess about 500 lumens.

That reminds me to wait for smaller imr's. Imagine a mag64... In a 2 aaa minimag.
