I have a MiniMag AA LED Multi sitting here, and just looked at the tailcap.
Mine is flat bottom, totally round, with no lanyard hole.

After unscrewing it - the entire threaded area and inside tube is anodized.
There is a small bare metal band on the inside tube, just beyond the threads.
The tailcap has some "fingers" that reach out beyond the threads to make contact with the bare metal band.

Therefore, if your tailcap switch has the usual spring just sticking out in the threads area, it will not make contact with bare metal inside the Minimag LED Multi tube, and therefore will not work.

So - any thoughts on how to get a clicky tail for this MiniMag AA LED Multi ?

Kroll

or if you're feeling adventurous steel wool.

edit:

Okay, I just tried the Kroll on my multimode and it barely works. I think the inner threads just need to be stripped of anodizing to enable contact through the threads instead of the end of the barrel. It's easy enough to do with most abrasives. Also if your Kroll switch doesn't fit just swap the contact spring with the mag original spring for that aa light. (that's what I had to do)

The existing tailcaps made for the MM don't work well with the MMLED with the non-lanyard hole tailcaps. You can try polishing the anodizing off of the end of the tube and removing the anodizing from the part of the clicky switch that makes contact with it but you still end up in a situation where the spring isn't long enough to reach the batteries and apply enough pressure to keep contact if you jar it hard.

I had mine modified by having it cut down by about 3/16" then having it rethreaded and counterbored to match the older configuration. Then I found out that Mag now makes the newer ones that way
