minimag battery barrel no workie?

I just pulled the BB400/Q3L sandwich I've been using in my 1xAA MMM out and put it back in a regular 2xAA minimag. I clicked the kroll, and... nothing. Weird. I pulled it out, put it back in the MMM, and it works fine. I took the two batteries I was using in the minimag out and put them in a 2xAA plastic holder, and touched the wires to the appropriate spots on the sammich, and it lights up just fine. I've tried two krolls and the regular minimag tailcap, no change. I cleaned the lip of the tube and the top of the sammich with a pencil eraser, no change. I try some different (known good) batteries, no change. Finally, I try another tube, it works just fine. Any ideas? This battery tube worked fine a couple of days ago.

Is there a nick in the lip of the barrel, that may be preventing good contact?

Also, put the sammich & cells in, and check the voltage with the Kroll or tailcap removed. Is the supplied voltage there?

Weird, I put it back together, and now it works. there must have been some gunk on the lip preventing good contact, I guess.
