Well, I got some trustfire 14500's and a ultrafire wf-139 (i think) comin to charge them; plan on ordering the hotwire kit and tl-3 bulb as soon as lighthound gets the bulbs back in stock.

What can I expect from this light? I've heard people say its just amazing out of a little old minimag; am I going to be blown away? How wil it compare to my 3D magled or 3D maglite xenon? How about a 1xAA MTE rebel100? Is the Auroralite kit from lighthound a thrower or more of a floody reflector?

There is no comparison. The Mini is like a dead Kmart light compared to a Aurora driving light. MUCH whiter, great spot and good spill. Battery life isn't the best (measured in minutes), but you'll get a good half-hour out of it. Get the tailcap switch. You won't have to twist the head much. It will then come on in Max Mode.

I'm carrying one. Talk about a sleeper light!

A couple of hints from my experience. First, I snipped the tailcap spring a turn, then bent the center of the spring in and down. This made the AW 14500s fit perfectly, but still with good tension on them. Second, take the head off the flashlight, and put the ceramic bulb socket and bulb and batteries in first and put on the tailcap, then screw the head on. (Yeah, the bulb will be lit -- don't stare at it!) It makes the whole project fit together easier.

I carry one beside my Surefire M6..its throw through the mag reflector sucks, but the candle mode is OMGWTFBBQ awesome....walking around the house with the head off and lights out:huh:

anyone know if the tailcap can be drilled in further?
I'm thinking of storing an extra TL-3 lamp in the TC
