Use the 3.0 V Rechargeable and you should be fine. Remember to check the voltage. If anything over 3, there is a chance of frying the light and you might have to send it in
Li-ions are marketed as "3v" but are really 4.2 off the charger. You'll need a different chemistry to get 3v off the charger.
Li-Ions might, very likely, fry the lamp and since Surefire consistently and aggressively discourages Li-Ion use in their lights they might decide that you voided their warranty.
There are 3.0V LiFeP04 RCR123 to consider if he really wanted rechargeable batteries. Not sure if these have been tested though.
Having chatted with SF CS, I am quite aware of the 4.2 RCR frying the board. When the Saint was launched, they had a few sent back in with fried boards.
The Minimus is a Saint with the rear-mounted battery pack (and top strap) removed, and the single-battery tube attached. The weight in front might be a little more with the Minimus configuration (I'm not sure, I haven't weighed the light unit), but overall the full Saint configuration will be heavier since it includes the battery pack and two more CR123 batteries.

Wouldn't an RC with 3.25 volts or less be safe, since that's what new SF cells are?
Also, for the op, SF can tell if you if "fried" the light by overfeeding it, and may not replace it, since they specifically state to use only primary cells.
