Mizer or No Mizer?

It depends on what you plan on doing with your light.

I absolutely love my PD-S mizer, but I don't see myself needing any more light for my tasks.

A lot of folks seem to want the brightest light they can get their hands on.

I am definitely a fan of the Mizer. These new emitters are PLENTY bright even when not driven hard and the 3 hour runtime is nice. I had a TI PD-S in both regular and Mizer flavors. I kept the Mizer.

:mad:Darn I was hoping to avoid this decision before Don's wave! Runtime, or output...:duh2:

Mayo:hairpull:

I like my mizer because I like having the runtime on high. As Green LED said I also don't need more lumens than the high my mizer puts out.

Non-Mizer, aside from the Mule, where I prefer Mizer.

I only own one McGizmo, a Ti PD-S Mizer, and I love it. The way I look at is, and the way most true flashaholics should, if I need something really bright, I've got plenty of those throughout the house, car, whatever. I'd find it really hard to believe that a McGizmo owner only owns one flashlight. Each light for it's own task is what I say.

What he said! For EDC I find the PD-S Mizer quite bright enough. I have plenty of other lights to use when I want something brighter but more often than not the only light I ever use is my Mizer.

I'm one of these people to some extent. The lights that I have that are maxed out are only used for momentary. I EDC a PD-S but mine is bumped up to 694ma which is actually about 720ma on high. I've played with various levels & I personally like where mines at now. Great brightness & still pretty good runtime, & I've got low. The majority of PDs I've done I bumped up to 750ma & 775ma & a few higher but they get pretty hot when used for long periods of time.

My Ti PD mule is currently pushing 1A but it's still currently getting a makeover. Will be strictly a momentary light only.

Good replies. Please, if you have something to add to the debate, post with my thanks!!!

When you put a stock Ti-PD next to a stock Mizer Ti-PD? How much brighter is it? What kind of runtime on your Mizer Ti-PD's do you guys get?

I'm far too picky to settle and always want the best of both worlds. So, I got Wayne's GDuP. with the GDuP, you can have mizer at level 1 and non-mizer at level 2. The great thing about the GDuP converter is the fun does not stop there! You have 1 more level that exceeds non-mizer. Can't go wrong with 3 levels. This can be installed in a pd or mule, assuming that is what this thread is about.

I seldom need a "moderate" amount of light. Usually a little bit (for walking around the house at night, or illuminating something while preserving my night vision) or a ton of light (for seeing something far away while outside) is what I need. Personally, I would opt for non-mizer myself, unless you are talking about a Ti Mule. Given how floody it is, it's best at close range and I suppose there could be instances when you need a moderate amount of light at close range.

Of course, if you want to conserve battery power, mizer would be better since it is more efficient than non-mizer (I think).

Anyway, just my two cents.

I bought the mizer from the last PD-S wave. To my eyes it seems to be the same brightness as my NovaTac 85P on max. I'm very happy with the brightness of the mizer. The 3 hours run time compared to 1 hour makes it a no brainier for my needs.
