How much brighter do you want it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif

Rbaptie,

Your email link doesn't work, at least it returned my mail to you.

First question is as 3rd Shift asked, "How bright?".

Then, do you want an LED or a hotwire mod?

Then, how much runtime?

Then, how much money do you want to spend?

By the way, as an Air Force brat, nice logo on that light!

I do have an old style 2c on hand with new parts in it, and an old style led heatsink for it too.
Your light will look as it did when you sent it to me, or bwaites until you switch it on. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wow.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/caution.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif
It just depends on how modded you want it $$$.
bwaites may have the easier and cheaper solution.

Rbaptie, see your previous thread for more on that engraving / crest, now that I've seen it.

To keep it simple, you could just drop a sink in it with a lux III on top and drive it with a NexGen converter. 700mA is nice, bright, and practical.

You'll also be able to keep running the fairly common C cells in it and won't have to use a battery adapter. The thing is that with all of this, I'd invest $20 in a new light to do the mod.

These are easy to do, so turn around time wouldn't be long at all.

hi guys- apologies for bad email link-

[email protected]

I'd like it to be similar to my NQIII in brightness (or brighter - lol) and still keep it on C cells- something about the weight I like-

LED would be cool- like to spend under $40 shipped back

If you like the LED look, 3rd Shift and Chop can help.

When you are ready for BRIGHT, let me know:)

Well, considering that a Lux III goes for about $15 and the sink is $10-$15, depending on which you want to use, and the converter is about $28, I don't think you'll be able to do an LED mod for under $40.

For the money that you're talking about spending, you might want to consider using an adapter to accommodate 3X123 cells and getting an appropriate incandescent bulb.

Hi Rob,

For under $40, you could install any one of a number of drop-in LED replacements. For example, the Diamond LED. I have one and keep it in a 3D stuffed with alkalines. I'm not sure it will work on 2 cells although the regulated unit might.

For cheap hot wire, the 3x123 + KPR112 bulb is your best bet. 2 alkaline cells just doesn't get you much bright I'm afraid.
