Modding 27lt to fit an 18650

Is it possible to modify the battery tube inside the 27LT to accomodate an 18650? Boring it out would not work as the tube would end up too thin. But cutting away tube except for a 1/4" strip that makes contact with head might work. Has anyone tried this?

If I remember correctly, Leef, is in the process of making 18650 tubes for the 27LT. I would check with him before you start modding your battery tube...
