Modding 4d maglite

Has anyone tried modding a 4d maglite?Would it put out enough power for a direct-drive 5 watt Luxeon star,or possibly 4 1-watt ones?

Also, do the collimators for the 1 watt versions work for the 5 watt versions?

Any input appreciated.

I've got a 4D Mag mod with a 5W Luxeon.... I sleeved the battery tube with PVC pipe and load it with 5 C cells. Works great!

You could also go ahead and underdrive it with 4 D cells for awesome runtime. It will still be brighter than a 1W mod by far...
