So I have a problem finding a replacement ballast for the busted 24W Darkbuster. I am wondering if I can MOD it from a HID to SST90? These are the items I thought I would need for the modding:
A) SST90 from DX
B) 6.5A driver from DX
C) Additional batteries for a total of 4S3P
My concerns are:
1) Will the stock batteries (from Samsung) together with the new LG 18650 be able to power the SST90 at 6.5A. (All the batteries are 2600mAh)
2) Will there be a problem mixing different brands of batteries? I will ensure that all will be equally charged though.
Knowing that I will have a problem with heat I will a drill a hole and sealing with a aluminium plate to conduct heat to the water.
Ultimately, I am only concern with having a torch that can provide a minimum of 1700 lumens as well as using the existing battery pack which are 11.1V. Suggestions for alternatives are welcome.
