I thought I'd show you guys how I modified my Fenix mount.

As a lot of you know, the Fenix mount is great, but there are a couple things I don't like about it. The slop between the two halves that lets the flashlight bounce side to side drives me nuts and I would like to be able to remove and install the flashlight quickly without having to deal with nuts and clamps...

This was a simple solution. It works exactly as I had hoped and I was able to make 2 of them with one mount. The clamp can be found at any hardware store. I used automotive battery cable heat-shrink tubing to insulate the clamp to keep it from scratching the flashlight. I swear I've seen the clamps with rubber coating on them but couldn't find any.

What a super solution! :twothumbs

Aren't those the metal clamps you often see used to clamp brooms and such to the wall? I don't think I've ever seen them with rubber coating.

An alternative to the heat shrink (which looks fine) would be the plasti-dip product found in hardware stores. It's typically used to coat handles of plyers and such. Several dips and allowing it to dry between coats will build up quite a layer of protection on the metal (but it may reduce it's ability to flex around the light)

Hi SteveG, do you have any more detailed instructions on how to make this out of a Fenix mount? I was riding along on my bike and my mount literally fell in half dumping my light on the road.

I could probably check out my warranty situation but I didn't like stuffing around with nuts and bolts either and would like to quickly attach and detach the light from the bike. Making one of these would save me logging warranty and would end up a more convenient piece of equipment (and hopefully not dump my light on the road again!

How did you get the halves apart? I'm left with a bit of plastic from the center of one half broken off and attched to the other and still can't see how to separate it... also to attach this clamp with a screw or whatever that is in your pic .. any drilling required? :)
