Modify Colman 3AA XR-E

This is the light available at Walmart rated 115 lumens. The head seems to be press fit or glued tight. Has anyone hacked this one?

I assume it is regulated with a simple resistor. I'd like to change to a higher resistance for reduced out put with long runtime.

If you mean 3AAA then it probably is just resistored. I have the 2AA version of this light and modded it to a P4 7C (for outdoor use).
I used a heat gun and strap wrenches to open the head. Basically you want to apply enough heat to soften the epoxy and there are other ways to achieve it as well although I have not personally used them.(boil in a bag, candle warmer ect.)
