Modify MN16 to host a 3W or 5W LED, bad idea?

Sometime ago I got a crazy idea about modding a broken MN16 LA i have to host a nice LED going DD, 3W or 5W dosent matter. Since this will me my first "REAL" modproject I thought I'd ask if you guys have any thoughts about it. I'm not aiming at building the next spaceneedle here or anything. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I just want to try if I can get this mod to work.

Something like this Luxeon module for Turboheads ?
It runs hot, i dont know if the MN lamp base is up to the job of heatsinking a luxeon. If you do decide to try it anyway, you'll need to position the luxeon die (not the dome, the die itself) at the exact height of the bulb fillament to get perfect focus.
