Just before Christmas, my wife and I took the kids out for pizza and then to a local production of the Nutcracker. While enjoying some family time waiting for our pizza, the power went out! It was great, the place went really dark even with the "emergency lighting".
The restaurant manager called out, "does anyone have a flashlight?" My wife said quietly, "Oh no." "I do" I called back, "in fact I think I may have more than one you can borrow." :naughty:
In my pockets and Spec-Ops Packrat EDC bag I had:
Cvictor (always in my front left pocket)
D-mini w/ two stage switch
SF U2
SF E2 with red diffuser lens
Photon Freedom
Gerber Foreman w/ Green LED
ROV Sportsmans Extreme Headlamp
Glotoob Blue
:D:D:D:D

Ah yes....it was a beautiful thing!!!!!

(It's a good thing I was parked down the block otherwise I could have brought in a few more :naughty:)

Golly, there really IS a Santa Claus! :)

You do realize that you're setting your children up for years of psychotherapy due to incidents like this, right? :ohgeez:

My kind of evening out!

Moments we live for.... Waiting for the postman to deliver our new nights,
Waiting for dark so we can test our new lights
Waiting for our Pay so we can buy our new lights
Waiting for a new Flashlight Model to come out
And most of all, Logging on to CPF

Well put, the story of my flashaholic life...

Campdavid, you deserve a gold star. That's a great story. Flashaholism is a good thing folks.

And did anyone say to you:

My Hero !

Well, if not, they certainly SHOULD have.

:goodjob:

(PS: did you get yer' pizza for free ?)

How many people were there at the pizza parlor? An exhibition without an audience is no fun...

My money grubbing thought was also did you get the pizza for free?

I know its extremely capitalistic but I may have walked up to the counter
and offered to trade a $25 flashlight for $30 of pizza and drinks.
OMG! The photonic joy would have been sweet.

Did you get any pictures?

yes! a moment of light for campdavid! you make us proud :D

funny story bro (luv the way your wife supports her boyscout!)

I used to have plenty of other things to do in my spare time, funny how I can't seem to remember any of them anymore.
Great story, can't wait for more of these moments for myself.

I might be able to top that.

In early 1974 I went to a theatre to see the new James Bond movie "Live and Let Die". During the opening sequence Bond is in bed and the phone rings. Bond looks at the watch on his wrist, presses a button, and the time appears in tiny LED numerals. The audience ooohed.

Not to be outdone I quickly turned on my identical Pulsar watch and held it up so people could see it was real. People around me ooohed and one or two even aaawwed.

When the movie was over several people came up to me to see the watch.

Having a real James Bond 007 gadget (mine was better as it was gold plated, his was silver plated) is absolutely priceless. Especially when you can show it off.
