Most floody possible

Hey,

Since some days, i'm looking for very floody flashlite with the less possible hotspot..
For the moment my choise stopped on eagletac m3c4 triple xm-l with his diffuser.

I don't know what is 300/500 or 800 lumens, but i need lot of light and "who can do more can do less" ..
8" (20cm ?) seem to be a great size, and i don't care about the kind of batteries. It is a great light or do you know an alternative to this flashlight ?

Edit : <$150 maybe $200 if it's a crazy one

Dereelight makes a light with no hotspot at all. The CL1H-T-NOHS. Has a special reflector and lense for a uniform beam pattern. Costs about $65 from the Dereelight website. Hope that gives you another choice to consider. Good luck with your search.

it looks great, but it seems the beam is not wide enough, they reduced the width of the light with the lense ..
I seek something more wide!

Check out the Sunwayman V20C. Has the floody Cree XM-L LED, rated 438 lumens. Can run on an 18650 battery. See it at Battery Junction.

Edit: I should have checked out the Eagletac first, LOL. Looks like it has the Sunwayman beat in every aspect except price.

If you want a very floody light, the Zebralight SC600 is about pure flood, 750 (ANSI) lumens worth....and is only ~ 4" long.

If you want an obscene amount of flood, the Elektro Lumens Big Bruiser puts out about 3,000 (emitter) lumens with no hot spot...a massive amount of flood, from a <7" long light.

MCGizmos Mules produce a perfect wide angle fllod beam since they don't have any optic/reflector, but they are rather expensive and can only do a few hundred lumens (with an xm-l)

A 6V Mule XM-L would be a pretty great flooder and be one of the finest tools you have ever owned. I carry a Mule XM-L with my Haiku XP-G everyday and I love it. The Mules are amazing lights.

I am almost sure tu buy the zebralight, but there is an alternative to the big bruiser ? 3 cree XM-L + 35mm tri-optics with some modes ? lo/med/high or less lumens for more power ? or is it possible to add something for haves modes ?

If you like the Bruiser...what about a Mac Tri EDC? That's a fantastic flooder, super compact (yet still using 18350 cells), and really really nice. You can spend as much as you want...Al is cheaper...and Cu and Ti are available.

I think this is a good alternative not yet mentioned.

I have come to love the Zebralight designs. I wasn't too crazy about them to start with (kinda seemed a little cheap and flimsy just looking at the pics and reading the size and weight). -But when form follows function so well it kind of grows on you once the functionality is experienced. Fortunately the lumens/runtimes, CRI and level spacing pushed me over the edge to purchase or I wouldn't even know what I'd missed . Not flimsy at all, very mature and minimalist design. Excellent value in my mind.

Yes. My suggestion was going to be to pick any suitable light you like with an accessible/replaceable lens, and put light diffusing film under the lens.

the frosted glass is not better ? with the filter it quickly loses stops, is it the same with the lense ?

Frosting, diffusion, all cost lumens OTF.

If you want a pure flood light, take all the lens and reflector off, and have an exposed LED...or, get a lantern instead of a flashlight.

I agree with those that said any light with a piece of frosted Scotch Tape will make a nice all flood light.

Just tape up your eagletac ;)


A Romisen with an aspherical lens makes a great flood light! ...but it may not be bright enough.

2. Why so much flood? What do you plan to use it for?

Insane output... you could easily get away with putting a frosted lens on there and still put out a lot of light.
It's a budget light, but the reviews seem ok. I don't own the light myself, but I was thinking of buying one. 70 bux seems reasonable for its capabilities. Not sure how confident I'd be in the driver, though.

Pure flood and zero hotspot.

500 lumens. Great for reading or ambiance lighting.

Gimpy : I'm photographer and it could help me to focus in some cases without blinding my models, and why not use it as a light source ;) i don't find any review for the Sky Ray King :/

I think the spark is detachable from the headband and can be mounted on ferrous metals using a magnet mount.
