Does anyone know of an halogen light set which takes MR16 lamps ive been looking at various systems but none say the size of lamp they take. ive become fed up with led so im going back to halogens iwould want a double light up front, with the option of buying spare housing so i could make a helmet light, im planning a tripple light set up with 3x 6v MR16 lamps at 20W each in series overvolted to 24V

this guy sells them on ebay. Ive bought a few of him as good quality light.

He uses Phillips Energy Saver Halogen bulbs which are brighter than the MR11 equilivant

DIY MR16 halogen mtb lights are simple to make. Just go to the hardware store plumbing section to find PVC parts to make the housing. Should cost less then $10. However, for 35+W MR16 bulbs the PVC housing may melt so use a metal housing instead.

Why are you returning to halogens?

ive decided to go back to halogens because there are a number issues with led's optics, drivers, heatsinking and cost, halogens are much easier 2x 6v 35w 10/24 degree lamps in series stick 18v up there A**E and you got over 3000 lumnes at about 2.9A

Have you heard of the PondScum DIY lights? Check them out.

I have a set of the pond scums and they are pretty impressive. I didn't make my own (I'm not that handy), so I bought a used set from the "inventor".
It's a dual set up, one flood, one more of a spot.
Now being as they are halogens, the light is a bit yellowish, but not a big deal really. And I really only notice it against other riders lights (which are often bluish leds).
The battery is big (water bottle) and heavy, so if you worry about weight, then the pond scums aren't for you. But I'm heavy, my bike's heavy, so I figured what's a little more weight! LOL!

Now on the upside, they put off a LOT of light! It's almost light having car head lights when I switch them both on.
I'ts kinda cool to switch on my $80 lights and blow away everyones $350 lights.

If you're a littly handy, and want cheap, bright lights and aren't worried about weight, the pond scum lights are a great way to go.

(note* I paid $80 because they were used. To build a set from scratch plus battery and charger is still under $150 I believe).

at last the server isn't busy and i can post some replies, those ebay lamp cans are what i want, but the price is way over the top. Have every thing i need just built a 14.4v 8amp battery pack in a bottle out of 36 AA's, got my 6v 20W 4000K MR16 lamps just need decent priced cans to put them in
