i'm sure you all knew it.
this is a GREAT light.
is the seoul u bin behind the 8 ball compared to the q5 and the rebel100 right now, or is it still a lumens/watt contender?

i just bought my second one cause i don't know where my first one is or my five mode 100 lumen rebel mte. i really really like the one mode better, but i see the purpose for having a five mode, just to keep it for power outages

i was wondering what you thought about the mte seoul vs. the mte reb100 5mode. im looking to get one or the other as gifts. is the rebel much brighter? what about throw?

as for your question, it seems like the seoul is still a contender because it has a lower vf than the crees and was pretty efficient to start with. also, i haven't ever seen a seoul with a bad tint. unless you know what tint bin your buying, getting a cree is like playing the tint lottery. it sounds like the rebels tint changes too much over different currents, and gets too purple at lower currents. for flashlights, the high vf of the cree q5 limits how hard it can be driven, so a Q5 wont get as much current from the same driver as a p4.

I guess there's a reason why they keep selling out at DX. I love mine. My warmest tint amongst my Fenixes, Jetbeams and all others. Reveals colors fairly well.

The current Seoul P4 U bin is around Cree Q2-Q3 range. I would not call the MTE Seoul behind the mark, in fact, that is probably much more then people expect from a AA powered LED.

Either one is good. I know for a fact that the Rebel 100 5 mode will run for way over 6 hours on low mode(I left it on by accident). I think the MTE Seoul runs for about 1-2 hours before output starts to really go down.
