I have been away for about 6 weeks and only checked in a few times. I hope I missed too much.
Long story short version.
Me and my wife and two teenagers, 3 American bulldogs, 1 Dachsund, and 1 cat Lived in a camper in a state park for 6 weeks.
Why you ask? Well we were in between selling and buying a house and the timeing didn't work out too well. We couldn't find anywhere to rent on short notice that would allow dogs.
So, we bought a camper to live in and parked at a local state park.
I wish I had a chance to try out some more lights but things were hastily packed and unorganized.
The campground was in a valley with many trees. We were close to a mountainside behind us. There were some lights scattered about but not too bright.
Here are the lights I used and some comments.
ARC AAA
Milky L1
SF L1 Cree
Advance auto 2C with a Seoul led
Mule
Streamlight 2L with a Seoul led
Nautilus
The arc aaa was used on some close up work I had to do on the camper. It was held in my mouth. I wanted to hook it on a cap but I couldn't even find a ballcap! I used it a couple of times walking to the bathhouse but the ambient lighting was really too much for it to be of any use.
The Milky L1 was used the most and was the best all around light. Everything from walking the dogs to cooking outside it was great. I would have hooked it to a cap if I had one. It was not the best thrower though and that was its weekest point.
The SF L1 cree is a good thrower with pretty good flood also. I didn't use it as much as the Milky L1.
I used the Advance Auto 2c for my thrower. It worked very well with the seoul led swapped in. Its a great budget light.
I tried the Mule but it didn't perform well enough all around to use it much. I used it inside mostly.
A headlamp would have come in handy but mine is packed up somewhere.
My wife used the streamlight almost all the time. It is a great all around light also. The low is good for most tasks and high throws very well. I was pleased and surprised by it. Although my wife would agree that if you go to the bathroom at night and a storm knocks out the power to the whole campground, the light does you no good if it is in the camper and you are on the toilet.
I received my black Nautilus about a week before we left and it is just as good as my Ti Nautilus. Great all around beam.
I wish I could have tested some more lights but I was lucky to do what little I did.
Two things. Always pack a ballcap. Never Ever live in a camper with two teenagers if you dont have to.
