Re: the knurling. I'd prefer a gentle type of knurling and less of it. I think the present degree of knurling really does detract from the appearance.
A suggestion.....why not make the light with less knurling for those who want it that way, and supply an auxillary rubber sleeve which could be pulled over the light by those who need more grip. Replacement sleeves could be made available and they would help protect the finish of the light.

The knurling could look a little more stylish I guess, perhaps by leaving a few clear gaps, but the rubber sleeve idea I've tried with my Streamlights and Surefires. After almost continuous use for more than an hour, one battery closest to the head got stuck in the Streamlight three AA Luxeon Star, I think maybe due to heat retention. The company immediately gave me another one, saying the bicycle inner tube I used shouldn't be a problem, still it's something to think about. Rubber bands may be a better idea, functionally at least. Nether is too tasty though...
BTW, I'm considering an Ultimate and also possibly organizing a group buy, so long as being stuck here in the Great White North does not prevent it somehow. Anyone who may be interested, whatever their HDS light choices, can PM to discuss further.
My main personal concern with these products is that they match the ruggedness and quality of Arcs in every respect. Secondary would be moddability, additional options such as AA barrels and readily accessible customer service, of course. Not wanting to cause offensiveness towards anyone, but something will have to eventually replace Arc if they really and truly will no longer be producing flashlights. That means the equivalent or better in terms of size and versatility, as well.
