I bought a Scorpion R500 light to put on an AR-15 last week in order to take care of some hog issues at our farm in East Texas. The amount of light and throw coming out of the R500 were great until the fourth shot at which time the bulb burst. :sigh: After that experience my father went to Gander Mountain in Tyler and picked up a SF L7 Lumamax. While the L7 may be a great flashlight, it has too much spill, and nowhere near enough throw or lumens and it went back. The guy who helped him really did not even pay attention to what we needed, he just sold him the most expensive SF light that they had. So all this last weekend I have been on here doing some research into the light that I thought that I would need to buy that would do what I needed it to, and I came up with a few ideas.
One idea was the SF M981xm07 which is basically a weaponmounted M4. The other idea was the Wolfeyes M90-13V rechargable flashlight. The SF, while I know it would be good, costs $480+
which is a little out of my range, so I called Mike@PTS to ask about the M90-13V.
When he answered I explained to him what my experiences had been, and what I was looking at. After a few more questions he recommended the Wolfeyes 9D (Cree Q2 HO) flashlight. He recommended it because being a LED it is not as subject to recoil, it has good throw (out to 130 or so yards which is plenty) and great runtime. The Tiablo A9 might be too focused, and the M-90-13V is still an incandescent which could be subject to recoil/hard bumps.
In other words he listened to what I had to say, what I needed, and what my experiences had been and made a suggestion. And he said if it does not work out they will take it back and find something that does, but from what he told me I do not expect there to be a problem.
But here is the kicker, he is going to swap out the 9a clicky switch for a 9h that has both clicky and a pressure pad, and he is sending me the new Q5 9d light that is coming in to his warehouse tonight instead of the Q2 9d. :twothumbs
When I deal with someone who takes the time to listen to my needs and then makes a solid recommendation based off of what I have said I want people to know about it. Not only did he make a recommendation based off of my needs, but he recommended a light that is less expensive then what I had called him about, he did not try to upsell me just to make money, he tried to find something that would work for me even if it was cheaper!
So thanks Mike, I am looking forward to the light coming in. If anyone on here needs a Wolfeyes product I would highly recommend giving Mike@PTS a call. I recieved very solid service from him and I am sure you will too.
