My first JetBeam flashlight

Just got my new Jetbeam M1X Military series "searchlight" today from
my friends at BugOut :D

I did alot of thinking (my first big mistake!!) and decided on this model.
This is my first Jetbeam, and I wanted to pick one that well represents the companies design and manufacturing prowess.
Did I pick the right one?

So now, the great wait for darkness so I can go out and play.

This light has throw potential (as you know, PB thrives on THROW!!)
so I am keeping my paws crossed.

It has a very deep textured reflector that I dont have in any of my
other flashlights, so comparing it with what I have (see my sig, there
all there) would be useless.

For it's first feeding, 3 Duracell Ultra CR123's.

Came in a black paper-board box with cut-out black foam insert, a
rather generic and worthless "manual", and spare o-rings and a clicky
cover (EDIT)

Tonight I will take it to my favorite testing grounds, my friends place.
He has a few acres in a rural kind of area where there is lots of open
space and no street lights. We have our targets already mapped out.

I guess I'll take my A9 w/ aspheric head along just so I have something
to compare it too.

One thing I noticed when feeding, this poor guy is DRY!! no grease!!
The threads are very well machined, and they are anodized!!
Much better then my new Ra clicky, which had some sharp burrs.

The clicky has a very nice solid tactile action, but it's a bit LOUD for
my taste.

I called my friend, he is anxious to see this light too :cool:

Crap, how come it's not dark yet??!!:popcorn:

Interesting. My M1X came with extra o-rings and a tailcap button cover thing (whatever it's called).

Hmmmm! do you think maybe BugOut yanked it from my box?

WAIT!! I found it!!
It was in a little zip lock under all the foam packing.
2 o-rings (one each size, and a clicky cover)

Hey Bunny, I think what people (including me :twothumbs) want to see the most is the comparision beamshots between M1X and Solarforce L950M :naughty::naughty:.
So if you could, please do us that favor ? Thanks a lot.

I'm back!

Well, I cant yet figure out how to get nice beam pics, but I am working
on it.

Sean did however get some nice ones, and he posted some comments
about the M1X, so check out his thread for more info.

Anyway, the M1X supprised me, it is more floody then I thought it would
be. Nice wide beam that lights up your path a few yards in front of where
your walking. This boy is very bright, and it illuminated our 300 yard target
nicely. On our 500 yard target, it didnt make it, could not see the target,
but it does illuminate a very wide area.

On a white wall at 20 feet, the hot spot was the same size as the Solarforce L950 but about twice as bright, and has a small dark spot
in the middle, and its not as smooth a gradient from hot spot outward
as the Solarforce. Its not as long as the Solarforce, and the diameter
of the head is smaller, but the reflector depth is greater by about 1/2 inch or so.

I would love to see a aspheric lens on this light :grin2:

I really like this light, I think its a keeper for sure :)

The Jet is throwy, compared to the Fenix TK40, but it can not match the Fenix for total output. I like both light, Jet for their very good finish, SS bezel, throw, size and good UI. Fenix I like for the high output and AA batteries.
I am looking forward to recieve the Legion II and the EagleTec lights and see how they compare.
