Half asleep this morning I had an idea for an UI that I would like to have.
It would combine the UI's of the Fenix T and D series lights.
For example:
Head loosened-- the light would act as a D series light. Half clicks (soft press) to change modes. Perhaps 4 levels of light. Maybe get rid of strobe and sos. Once you have set the level you want there, you could then tighten the head. Or, leave the head loose and use it as a normal D series light.
Head Tightened-- the light would be a single level only light. It would have memory of whatever level you set while the head was loosened. There would be no way to switch levels no matter what you did with the tail switch.
I find that I prefer lights with a forward clicky, and that simply turn on/off with clicky pushes. I love my L1T, but wish it had more levels. Well that and a better tint, longer runtime, and brighter but you can't have it all.
