In brief:

Appearance

Sleek and elegant flat black HAIII. Looks as "professional" as any product from the finest source. There are two O rings.

Fit and Function

Tested bodies: E2, E2e

Tested bezels: Standard aluminum (including M2 which has standard inner diameter), SRTH Turbohead (combined with standard SF turbohead adapter), KL3.
Nitrolon: G2 and G2Z

The E2C threaded smoothly and functioned normally with all tested body/bezel combinations. A few very minor clicks and bumps were occasionally felt during threading, but in no way impeded fit or function, and will most likely disappear with lubing and use.

HAIII

Easily passed the scissors/screwdriver "scrape test"

Ergonomics

Since the E2C weighs only .7oz it was not responsible for any perception of "nose-heaviness", but mating an E2X body with standard bezels sometimes produced that effect, though generally to a modest degree.

The adapter's "first ring" (closest to the body) created the effect of making the E2 body seem slightly shorter than normal.

Comments and conclusions: I realize that Don had to size the two "rings" to accommodate the E2e's permanent clip as well as the standard bezels. Personally, I would like to see an E2C with the "body ring" diameter reduced to E body dimensions to avoid that first ring "body-shortening" effect. This would work beautifully with a clipless E2 body, but might raise manufacturing costs to unacceptable levels.

The E2C is a really beautiful piece of work that should make Don proud and Flashaholics happy.

Thanks for the great report, Brightnorm!

Just a quick note of accuracy (* which now makes no sense whatsoever since Brightnorm just tuned up his post...

While it is Wayne who is selling the E2C adapter on his great site, the product is Don's (McGizmo's) design. Gets confusing, I know. Here's the crib sheet:

If the product consists mostly of small electronic stuff, Wayne probably designed it. If it was created from a chunk of metal, Don probably designed it. If you fail to see any utility in the product, *I* probably had a hand in it.

I have also received my adapter. It looks great.

It screws easily to my E2 body.
It is difficult to align threads with my KL3.
It aligns reasonably easily with standard bezels and my 3" Turbohead.

I, too, was surprised by the almost subconscious anxiety I felt holding E2 with KL3 or TH and feeling that it might slip bezel first out of my hand because of the "body shortening effect' Brightnorm mentions. I don't think I'll use those big heads and Don's adapter on my E2. I do expect to use the big heads on my 34mm longer Doug Speck brass UBH when it ultimately arrives.

I'll probably restrict use of Don's adapter and the E2 to occasions I feel like using a P61.

Hi guys,

Glad you got some of these adapters and I hope they serve you well, how ever you chose to use them! I have noticed that the O-ring seal is such that you need to push the adapter in past the first O-ring and then there should be no problem with the threads catching and alligning. The part will work fine without both O-rings (remove the one closest to the threads) but I prefer the security of two.

Brightnorm, I seriously considered tapering the adapter's OD to match or get closer to the OD of the E2 but upon carful consideration, I decided the function of having something you could grab easily for assembly and dis-assembly overrode the esthetics. For the same reason, I kept the OD to that of the "points" on the hex of the C2 bezel so your hand wouldn't be bumping into them as much. I also figured that KT might see this as a viable "hex" guard

Thank you for correcting my really inexcusable lapse in that wonderfully clear and good natured "Darell-like" way!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Don,

Is my face red!!! I must have had my brain very far up something or other. I'm so glad Darell corrected me. Anyway, Please accept my sincere apology. I'll edit my post right now!

Brightnorm,

No worries! I think the only reason you should even think about editing your post would be to make Darell look silly

And I shouldn't be so mean since he is a good buddy with a remarkable wit. I hate to see him sell himself short though since the rest of us can pretty much take care of that for him.

EDIT: oops, I wasn't quick enough to stop Brightnorm. Will this be one of those living threads that are always changing and never make sense as a collection of posts?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yes, I think the longer dust-ruffle would have looked better with the blue loveseat. But if function is going to override aesthetics for this stuff, then we'd better use the lace.

Say it any louder and I'll bet Glowbug will pop in with a jpg that features us all in our dainties.

But wait! Back to the cool E2C before we have to call in the censors...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That's very kind of you Lemlux. My wife has limited Don's adapter to a semi annual affair

This sounds interesting, but I couldn't find any pictures, or reference on Wayne's site.
