my personal poor-man\'s KT-1

mag 2-d, 17 dollars
mag 6-d lamp, 3 dollars
surefire batteries, 3.75 dollars
Pvc pipe, 35 cents.
Wire for connecting the tailcap spring and battery, <1 cent
total: <24.11 dollars.

that versus 100ish for a tubo head, and 50ish for the 6p body and tailcap, +20 bucks for the A19 extender, so figure about 170 for a 9P spotlight.

I think i'll keep my money to buy some 1940 reflectors, 1185 lamps, and new lenses for my Mag 85, thank you very much...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Re: my personal poor-man\'s KT-1

I had my heart set on the 10X Dominator, until the incan gods of CPF showed me how to build a 1100 (bulb) / 700 (useable output) lumen light for less than $100 including shipping. Rechargeable, too.. NiMH. Mag85 is the way to go. Ginseng is da MAN.

Sure it doesn't come with the tried-and-proven stamp of approval for mission critical operations or field swap capability with AB weaponlights, but then again, my requirements don't go there. All I ask is to be able to fry mosquitoes at 50 yards with the beam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don't get me wrong, I love my Surefire, I'm drooling over a new A19 that arrived today (my P9x series lamps are already in the SC1), it's just that sometimes you want insane lumens and you don't have the money.

heck yeah, i am real fond of all my Surefires, especially the E2e and the 6P with the A19 with P91, which are awsome for up to 30-40 yards, but after that the lack of throw shows up considerably, which is why one like me craves something a little less techy, a lot more raw power.....;)

Hey 357, what size pvc pipe did you use, been thinking about pulling out some of my old Mags and turning them into something more useful?

this is 270winchester, but got a whole lot more punch than 357 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
for the d-cells, use one inch pvc for the outer ring, then 3/4 for the inner ring. inside of the 3/4 you need to use foil or something to keep the batteries from straight and contacting.

note: you need to cut a section, over the length of the tube, like 3-4 mm wide on the 3/4, i discovered that the outer diameter of the 3/4 is just a bit bigger than the ionside diameter of the 1", so as long as you cut off a small section of the 3/4" pipe, it will fit snugly into the 1" pipe.
let me know if you are confused with what i just said, i swear it confuses me a bit too....:)

It is an adapter to use one extra battery on some SF models
6P becomes A 9P with the nine volt lamp P90 or P91.EDIT SPEllIN
