Tonight is the night I finally ordered a surefire. After debating between the fury and the e2dl I decided to go with the e2dl. I have no reason for the 500 lumens, however, I wanted a strike bezel. I also wanted dual output and I liked that the low output on the e2dl was 5 lumens instead of the furys 15. after searching around for a while, I found one for $122 shipped to my door. Now I just have to make sure my fiancé isn't home when it arrive... Or I won't have one  I'm excited to say the least!

Welcome to CPF! I'll bet that this will not be your only SureFire light in the future! They are reliable and have a great guarantee! Any problems? Just call SureFire. They will send you the part you need or fix your light.

ive been using my E2DL for years. its a great all around light. love the bezel, simply high/low modes. the E-series form.

I don't own an E2DL, but I do own an LX2, which is similar in performance to the E2DL. Love the throw of it - it makes it's low mode far more useful than some other lights of brighter output. I'd have to say that it may be the last Surefire you buy as well, as you'll never really need any other light for the rest of your life, what with that life time warranty and all :) Enjoy your light.

Congrats, I think that is one of the best Surefires made because it has the new LED technology, but the old school knurling to help keep a good grip on the light.

Plus, if you happen to find an LX2 two way clip for it, the light is extremely pocketable.

:welcome:

You won't even want to own lesser quality lights anymore. The TIR optic is amazing. Outside it is like a small hand held spot light. I know you will really enjoy this light. Welcome to the Surefire I just bought it and now a new model is out club.

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm sure it won't be my feat flashlight. I have a very addictive nature. First it started with guns, then it went to benchmade knives, and now it's on to surefire. I love buying USA made products. I've always hated the cheep flashlights but never could decided on which high quality flashlight to buy. I'm excited for the dm2 to come out later this year. I also wanted the lawman, but I had a hard time convincing myself to spend that much on a flashlight. After college, I plan to become a state trooper (following my dads footsteps in law enforcement) then I could probably justify spending $300 on a light. Considering it could save my life some day

I have the p2x fury and the e2dl and I edc them both. The e2dl is great for lighting up a specific area with little to no light reflecting back at you. The fury on the other hand lights up a wide area with a very smooth transition from hotspot to spill. This is very useful for searching. I suggest you get the fury too! You'll never know when you'll be needing 500 lumens. :) Btw, it took me 3 years to decide if the e2dl is worth it. Well, I've wasted so much time cause it's worth it! Hehe! Enjoy your light! :)

huntz362: :welcome:

I have as well Defender and Fury and like them both. While Fury is much more powerful the runtime is significantly shorter. The knurling of E2DL is great and provides good grip, while Fury is quite slipper.
Actually I like E2DL so much I recently ordered a KX2C head, which is the same 200lm optics but with the design like Outdoorsman head and without the low mode. This because I usually DON'T want a strike bezel.

I think you will like the E2DL! :)

E2DL is a nice light, I think you will love it. If you want more versatility, pick up an F04 beamshaper to go with it. You can go from flood to throw just by taking it off or putting it on.

Thanks for the recommendation. Is there anyway to put a glow in the dark button cover on it?

I got my first Surefire light a few months ago. Got the e2dl also. If you want you can check out my YouTube video about my purchase and the accessories. My YouTube name is tonywalker23.

I got the light then wanted other stuff. Got the f04 diffuser, a Surefire holster, a spares carrier. Then I added a clip like the lx2 clip so I could carry head up or down. Then I got fascinated with lanyards which became another adventure. Now I've got it completely like I want it and will never want another flashlight. That is until the eb1 is released :)

I will as soon as I get home! You're just like I am, I can't every keep something original,I have to personalize it.

This is exactly what i thought when i got my E1B about 4 years ago,,Love it carried it today!! sold the ed2l sorry to say,,I'll have to get one again

I put a scratch on my Surefire L5 a couple of days ago. I was trying to measure the bezel diameter with a metal ruler. It was totally unnecessary because all I had to do is go online and I would've found out that it's 1.47 inches. I hate myself. :(

The E2DL is my EDC and absolute favorite flashlight ever. Prior to its release I carried an E2E. I have a small slip ring connected to the pocket clip. Attached to that is a larger slip ring that fits over my middle finger. I can wear the flashlight, shoot, reload, do the laundry and the dishes. I slept with it on my finger on a trip to Haiti (and anytime I am afraid of the dark.) I wish Surefire would make a hard anodized version, my shows a lot of wear.

The E2DL was/is my favorite light by surefire. I owned the E2D, then moved up to E2DL, then bought another, then bought the E1B, it's much better on batteries, smaller and almost same output, sold the E2Ds, made a E1DL. and a E1D with EO-1R, such nice lights and so many LEGO options.

Welcome to the addiction. You're off to a great start!

IMO the light is ment to be used,,if you wanted a mint shelf queen, why not get someting else?

I prefer the F05 - diffusion is fun and some would say a necessity for an E2DL, but I disagree. The red filter is great for preserving night vision and signalling... But then again, I carry a Peak Logan with a flood optic at all times. I guess it all depends on your usage.

I would say yes, I've never done it, but there's a retaining ring at the back of the tailcap with two notches - use something to unscrew that ring and you should be able to get to the tasty tailcap innards. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It looks like it takes a standard size boot, but if there's a nub/post on the original boot, you may need to cut it to match your old boot for proper functioning.

I wouldn't use a mint L5 - too many beaters that can get the job done just as well and better - L5s in good shape are getting harder to come by. Merkava never stated that the light was a user. I've sold about 65% of my giant safe queen collection to pay hospital bills this year alone, including two NIB L5s... I regret not keeping one...

My first Surefire was a round body 6P. I Now have 7 Surefires, my most recent acquisition is a Black G2.
