People have done that, as I recall. The beam pattern was poor. The SSC is a better match for the optics. If you search CPF you may find the earlier attempt.

I suppose the MC-E is out of the question with the heat issue correct? I dont so mcu care about the beam as raw flood light.

The drive current will not necessarily increase by changing the LED (unless the Vf drops...). Also the heatsinking is a problem in these plastic lights, so the current will probably not change much.

However, the MC-E is more efficient at the same current due to the larger number of dies at lower current. And the larger source size may be good for flood.

I think you'd have to try it to see what happens. It is hard to predict. It would need to be a Parallel MC-E setup to have a similar Vf.

Vf is forward voltage of the LED diode. There is lots of good info in these forums, but it takes a bit of digging to find it. The wiki is a good place to start, though it is not complete yet. The stickies in the forum on flashlight electronics is good.

It depends on your perspective, I suppose. I'm seeing a rude newbie who apparently can't be bothered to read the rules and hasn't yet learned how to behave himself.
